Do you feel lost when it comes to ADHD and its related issues and concerns? Upon completion of this training, you will have an understanding of ADHD and its symptoms, myths and facts about ADHD, an overview of how ADHD impacts brain functions. You will understand more about coexisting conditions and disorders that mimic ADHD. You will also learn about how to talk to your child about ADHD. CHADD has developed this course to provide educational information and support to individuals and families who are dealing with ADHD and learning to navigate the challenges of ADHD across the lifespan.

In addition to the class you will receive a Parent to Parent Resource PDF full of helpful articles, tips and worksheets to use in your own family. The resources may be downloaded DURING the class.

This introductory class will be held online. You will need a computer, Internet access and either speakers or headset with microphone to participate. If you do not have computer speakers or have trouble hearing over your computer, you can connect the audio to your phone by dialing the phone number and entering the access code provided.

The training is provided by a certified Parent to Parent Teacher. Information is provided from the experienced parent's perspective. It will provide you with an overview of ADHD and an introduction to the Parent to Parent: Family Training on ADHD program. The program is a series of courses providing information and strategies for parents of children with ADHD.

 Objectives:
• Describe how ADHD is defined in the DSM-5 (book used by doctors in diagnosing psychological conditions)
• Understand common myths and facts about children with ADHD
• Learn the attention process
• Describe executive functions of the brain
• Analyze ADHD factors to think about when diagnosing and managing ADHD
• Compare other disorders that mimic ADHD
• Describe common co-occurring disorders with ADHD
• Explain diagnosing ADHD, including diagnosing the inattentive, predominately hyperactive/impulsive and combined presentations
• List problems that may be experienced by untreated ADHD
• Discuss ADHD with your child or teen with ADHD
